POULOMEE BASU
Wildlife Photographer. Conservation Advocate.
I'm a wildlife photographer, originally from India, now based in Oxford, UK. I have always loved the natural world and all its wonders. When I was a kid I had a book called A-Z of wild animals which I carried with me everywhere. My passion for wildlife has only grown with time.
For the past ten years I have photographed wild animals extensively, especially in Africa, my favourite subjects being elephants and big cats. I love shooting portraits, especially in black and white. But more than the photos themselves, what I love more than anything is being out in the African savannah. The sky seems more expansive, the spaces more wide open, and there are no distractions, just me and my camera. If I could bottle up that feeling I would do it in a heartbeat.
Over the past decade I have worked as a contributing photographer with several wildlife charities, including Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Wildaid and African Wildlife Foundation, and donated my photos to aid their conservation efforts. My photos have been used for campaigns, fundraisers, merchandise and on social media. It has been my way of being a part of the conservation effort to save some of our most iconic species.
Feel free to have a look at my portfolio and prints and drop me a line if you have any queries.
